Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
Good wine selection and very tasty. They charge for tastings and don't give a break if you buy wine. Hard to feel good about that. If a winery wants you to come back and spend money, they should make you feel appreciated. Still a nice place, just mixed feelings.
We had no reservations and were seated right away under a nice gazebo for our party of 6. We had a great view of the beautiful winery and vista. The waitress came over and took our orders for our tastings so that was nice that everything was table service. She checked in on us often too. We did the reserved red tastings and all the wines were delicious! We tried their port and went home with two bottles of that as well.
We very much enjoyed our wine tasting today and it was a great first visit for my friends. However, we were "less than enchanted" by the entertainment today. We felt the karaoke style television theme contest was beneath the class of Hungry Hawk. I have been twice before and the music was talented and pleasant. We came to enjoy the wine and atmosphere, not answer 20 questions! I will be back, but will make sure of the planned music in advance!
It's always wonderful to find somewhere new that's close to home and also great to visit. I always think that a limited number of wines, carefully made, with passion, is preferable to a long slate of wines, however varied they are. The team at Hungry Hawk were friendly, knowledgeable and passionate to share. We enjoyed a tasting plus a long picnic lunch (we brought ours from Brothers' Provision in RB) on the terrace, overlooking the valley below. Highly recommended.
We loved it here, there was a personal touch of service, the music was lovely, the views were great. We had port and liked it.
