Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
If you enjoyed this review or found it helpful please hit the heart shape and consider following me. My friend and I sell steak, chicken and seafood off a truck across southern Nevada, California, and Arizona. Along the way we hit every dive bar, greasy spoon and habadashery, I enjoy chatting them with you. Parking is street parking and downtown Oceanside is very walkable with the exception of Thursdays. Thursdays downtown Oceanside has a farmers market in the day and street fair in the evenings. If you are headed there on a Thursday there is ample free parking one block away. (Seagaze and Cleveland) I went with the wife, she went with the carne asada tacos and I chose the birria and a draft porter. 10/10 is all but impossible for a taco or a burger because they are and simple, is hard. I have only found one 10/10 burger (gone now), this is the only the second 10/10 taco. (Nick's crispy taco in SF) What set this taco apart starts with the hand made corn tortilla. There is a satisfying crunch as your teeth break through it. It is sweet it is salty it doesn't just cradle the burria, you taste the tortilla first. Then comes the burria, my mouth is watering right now as I write. The wife's taco was wonderful as well but mine were amaze-balls. The porter washed it down perfectly. This place is usually busy, we ate on the patio and enjoyed ample elbow space. This taco is worth the drive no matter where you are driving from. 10/10 amaze-balls!
Haven't been to Oceanside in years, so I yelped a place with good beer. Did not disappoint. A lively Friday lunch crowd, positive vibes. Great service even though busy. Ordered the Al Pastor tacos. They are not tiny street tacos, they are legit tacos for around $6 each. Meat was perfect. Small salsa bar. I tried the "Oscura" and the "Shootz Mahalo" beers. Both great. There's a ton of chickens down here but I give this place a solid 8.5/10;for food and beer quality, and the pricing is more than fair.
We visited Craft Coast 3 times… in less than a week. I will forever dream about the Al Pastor tacos. The nachos are perfect. The carne asada is great. The Agua Baja is the perfect beer to wash it all down!
We did LOVE this spot until our most recent visit when I got a birria quesadilla and found a huge chunk of bone in it along with 3 other chunks. I went up to tell the staff about my findings, and they had someone else come look I assume manager. He stated that it's completely normal and made me feel dumb for even asking for a new one. And stated if I got a new one that one most likely would have bone in it as well. 1 I know for a fact that this is not a normal thing 2 I definitely should not have felt as if I was being a burden on this guy for asking why there was a huge chunk of bone in my food. We did go to this place pretty frequently because the food is good but we won't be back due lack of quality control and attitude from management.
Okay so if you love a good beer, ($5) birria/mulita/tacos and a chill atmosphere where you can either people watch mission Ave or catch a padres game, this is the spot. Dog and kid friendly too which is a plus. You pay and order at the counter and sit your boort down and enjoy good grub and a brew by the beach... it doesn't get better than that. Melted cheese your jam? Make sure to get it as a mulita. Watching your carbs? Get yourself a bowl. More of a girl dinner occasion? Get a hard seltzer and chow down on their delicious guac and chips. And do not sleep on their salsa (I might be obsessed with their cilantro crema 🤪)
